Company name collection, additional card filters and more
new
Collecting a company name for your customers
If you have a B2B business and you're signing up customers to your subscription, you'll need to collect the company name in addition to the account holder, so you can keep track of who is who.
We've added the ability for you to add a
Company name
that'll be available both when a customer is added manually, and via the checkout model.
Once collected, the company name will be displayed on the customer's profile and invoices.
More card filters
Reducing churn is a vital concern for any subscription business, so keeping track of customers cards is a must. We've added even more filters to your Customers table making it easier for you to get important information on which customers have cards on file and who still needs to update their payment details.
Additional country and currency support
Chile and Kosovo have been added to our list of supported countries. This means that you'll now be able to start receiving payments from customers with billing addresses in these countries.
We've also added currency support for the Chilean Peso. Meaning you'll now be able to configure products, taxes, and more in this currency.
You can check out a full list of supported currencies and countries here.

Expired card filter, email notifications and subscription status improvements
new
improved
In the last few weeks, alongside working on some larger features in the pipeline, we've added some more small improvements, to help make your Billsby account even easier to use and your business easier to manage.
Expired card filter
You'll now be able to see which customers have an expired card on file quickly and easily. This can be done directly from the Dashboard, or by using the new card filter in the Customers table.
We're also currently working on adding additional card filters, for those customers with active cards on file and no card on file.
Failed one time charge email
We have introduced a new customizable email notification that can be sent out to your customers whenever a one-time charge has failed. This email notification will also allow them to quickly update their payment method, or re-attempt the payment themselves, making it easier for you to manage churn automatically.
Suspended subscription improvements
To help make it easier for you to manage your customer subscriptions, we've changed the way we handle
Suspended
subscriptions. You've now got the flexibility to manually update your customer's subscription status between
Suspended
and
Active
.
You can see more details on this in our support documentation here.
Fixing issues you've reported

Adjust Next Billing Date
In this release we're introducing one of our most requested features: the ability to adjust the next billing date on your customer's subscriptions.
You'll also be able to set the status for the subscription until the next bill date. This means that if you want to pause your customer's account for a period of time, you can decide on the specific date you want it to reactivate, and you can set it to paused up until the next payment is taken.
This feature will be replacing the
Pause subscription
feature, so that you have greater control over when a customer's subscription is billed and displayed as
paused
.
Improved subscription filtering
You can now filter the subscription table by
Product
and
Plan
, to be able to get a quick view on subscriptions for each of your different plans. We're adding new filtering options to our tables all the time, so watch this space for more updates!
Add-on and Allowance images
Similar to the product and plan images, we've added the ability to upload an image to your Add-ons and Allowances.
These images will be shown in the checkout and self-service account management displayed clearly at the side of the Add-on or Allowance

Revenue Recognition Reports

Revenue Recognition
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working diligently behind the scenes and are happy to announce the arrival of our long-awaited revenue recognition feature!
By heading to our accounting reports page, you will be able to view an enterprise level calculation of revenue recognized by monthly billing periods, based on daily interval performance as well as any deferred revenue that has yet to be recognized.
What is revenue recognition?
Revenue recognition is an accounting principle where revenue is recognized and realized over the period the product or service is provided, not when initial payment is received. This methodology is heavily recommended for more accurate reporting.
For example, let's say:
  • A customer subscribes to a Monthly plan on Jan 1st, 2021
  • Service is rendered for the month of Jan
  • Subscription is renewed monthly on the 1st of Feb, and a recurring fee will be paid monthly going forward.
Since the service is fully provided in Jan, the revenue is completely recognized in Jan
  • A customer subscribes for a Quarterly plan on Jan 1st, 2021
  • The initial revenue received is $90
  • No additional revenue is received for the 2nd and 3rd months however, service must still be rendered for the 2nd and 3rd months
Deferred revenue is the remaining revenue that has yet to be recognized. In this example, with the customer who subscribes to a $90 Quarterly plan on Jan 1st, 2021; $30 of revenue would be recognized when the service is provided, and the remaining revenue to be recognized is $60 across the rest of the subscription period
Revenue reports
You can select a time period to generate a report of your recognized or deferred revenue and even filter by products, plans, subscriptions, invoices, or credit notes.
You also have the option to download your revenue recognition reports and deferred revenue reports in a .CSV format so you can share your revenue reports with your accountant.

Rate limiting & bug fixes
fixed
improved
Today, we're releasing a small update to improve the stability and functionality of Billsby whilst we prepare to bring you an exciting new feature in a few weeks time that both you, and your accountant will thank us for!
Rate Limiting
In order to avoid issues with performance, we have applied our rate-limiting to 10 per second on our API Calls.
What is Rate Limiting?
A limit on the number of requests and data quantity is placed in order to make sure the API runs efficiently.
We have many clients who use our API and with this, we will encounter many connections. With this rate-limiting, we can avoid common issues with disconnections while keeping this secure against any breaches.

QuickBooks Accounting Integration

Accounting Integration
:
Quickbooks
Since releasing the FreeAgent accounting integration we've been hard at work developing additional accounting integration options for your business.
The QuickBooks accounting integration automatically synchronizes credit notes, customers, and invoices from Billsby making it much easier to manage your finances.
Although please keep in mind our integrations are a one-way sync, so you'll still need to make any changes to invoices in Billsby.
We've worked hard to test the integration, making sure it's as sturdy as possible, however, this is still a "preview" and some customers might encounter some small issues along the way.
Fixing issues you've reported
We've also been working to fix any problems you've reported to us, alongside building our new features.
